As a board-certified periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontics and Dental Implants, Dr. Brock Lynn has a primary focus on the soft tissues of the mouth. Oral soft tissues primarily involve the gums, cheeks, tongue and lips. Our practice offers a variety of soft tissue treatments in Dallas, TX, performed in a gentle manner with the goal of improving your oral health and comfort. Soft tissue treatments can be performed for cosmetic reasons to improve the appearance of your smile, or for functional reasons including removing gum disease or improving speech. The two common soft tissue treatments we perform are frenectomies and gingivectomies in our Dallas, TX, practice.
A tongue- or lip-tie is a common oral concern that restricts movement of the upper lip or tongue and can cause discomfort or functional problems for patients. Frenectomy treatments allow us to sever the connecting tissue (frenulum) that restricts movement. This frenulum can be just under the upper lip, which is connected to the gums just between the front two teeth. Severing this tissue can allow for a more closed-mouth appearance, improve eating ability and speech. We can perform this treatment with our dental laser for a gentle, quick surgery that often requires no anesthesia and entails no bleeding.
Gingivectomies are a soft tissue treatment that removes diseased gum tissue from around your teeth. Gingivectomies return health to your mouth and are effective when disease has not affected your jaw bone. In some cases, a gingivectomy can also be used to treat those who have excessive gum tissue that covers their tooth structure, making their teeth appear short or giving them a “gummy smile” appearance. We can remove this excessive tissue to give you a more natural-looking smile.
The mission of Lynn Dental Care is to provide our patients with a healthy and attractive smile that will last them for a lifetime. Our team believes in the importance of continuing education and participates in over 100 hours every year. Our skills, education and experience translate to an improved treatment plan and more gentle, effective frenectomies and gingivectomies in Dallas, TX.
