Dental Implants Dallas

Replacing missing teeth is therefore an important part of maintaining good oral health and daily comfort. While there are many options for treating tooth loss, the most comprehensive and long-lasting solution is dental implants. As a skilled general and cosmetic dentist, Dr. D. Brock Lynn places dental implants at his Dallas, Texas practice to help patients who wish to recover their beautiful smiles. If you have suffered the loss of a tooth, or several teeth, and are interested in learning what implant dentistry can do for you, contact Lynn Dental Care today.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are considered by many to be the strongest and most comfortable option for replacing missing teeth. Implants are small titanium posts that are strategically placed in the jaw to add strength to the jawbone and act as a replacement for a tooth’s natural root. Once placed in the mouth, these titanium posts fuse with the remaining jaw bone to provide a durable anchor for synthetic teeth. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth or several teeth and can effectively restore the appearance and function of the mouth.

The Dental Implant Placement Procedure

Digital Optical Scanner Information

Dr. Lynn’s goal is to identify the best treatment options for his patients – ones that will net them the results they deserve with the least amount of discomfort. Using the latest technology he is able to gain a precise understanding of each patient’s condition, and prescribe appropriate treatment. For patients who are considering dental implants, Dr. Lynn will first perform an in-office cat scan using the i-CAT 3D imaging system to accurately assess the positioning of any remaining teeth, and condition of the jaw bone and nerves. Doing so allows Dr. Lynn to create a precise plan for the placement of dental implants, which will increase the likelihood of success of the procedure, and produce the most effective and comfortable results. This CAT scan will also provide insight into the condition of the patient’s mouth and allow him or her to make informed decisions about their dental treatment.

After a treatment plan has been decided upon, the dental implant procedure takes place over two appointments. The first appointment involves oral surgery in which Dr. Lynn will open the gums and insert the titanium posts into the jaw bone. The length of this procedure will vary based on the number of teeth that are being replaced. Once the dental implant posts have been placed at our Dallas center, Dr. Lynn will provide patients with temporary restorations to wear while their gums continue to heal over the following few months. It is during these months that the implants will fuse together with the jaw bone, in a process known as osseointegration.

During the second part of the dental implant procedure, which occurs after the gums have healed properly and the implants have fully integrated with the jaw bone, patients can return to Dr. Lynn’s office to receive their permanent replacement teeth. Implant restorations can include crowns, bridges, or implant-supported dentures. These restorations are long-lasting and allow patients to regain the natural appearance and function of their teeth.

Implant Restoration

In addition to placing dental implants, Dr. Lynn performs implant restoration. Using the advanced technology of the Novel Biocare custom scnner, he is able to achieve superlative results that are convenient and accurate. Dr. Lynn utilizes custom-design and milled titanium and zirconia abutments for all implant restorations. This results in an aesthetically-pleasing and natural look. Unlike former methods which produced conspicuous results, this method of implant restoration creates a final result in which the tooth looks like it is growing out of the gums naturally.
