Bonding
Cracks, chips, and other minor tooth damage can usually be repaired quickly and simply using dental bonding. For this procedure, a biocompatible resin material is placed directly on the tooth, then shaped and hardened. It is comfortable, conservative, long lasting, and usually completed in just one appointment. Dr. Lynn can also use this technique to alter the length or shape of teeth. The appearance of bonding material mimics that of tooth enamel for a beautiful result.
Fillings
Our goal here at Lynn Dental Care, is preserving oral health while optimizing aesthetics. Cosmetic fillings are a safe and natural looking alternative to silver amalgam. Lynn Dental Care has been mercury free since 1993. These fillings can strengthen a compromised tooth, and they may last longer than alternative materials. Dr. Lynn also takes proactive measures to preserve the teeth, using laser-assisted technology known as DIAGNOdent to detect decay early on.
Inlays and Onlays
These restorations provide a solution for teeth that do not require a crown, but have too much damage for a simple filling. They are custom made of high strength porcelain, and very little tooth preparation is needed. Inlays, also called indirect fillings, are used on the inside of a tooth. Onlays, also known as partial crowns, cover one or more cusps (tips) of the tooth. Inlays or onlays can help protect a tooth from further damage, decrease sensitivity, and restore aesthetics.
Sealants
Dental sealants are used to help prevent the enamel erosion that leads to cavities. Dr. Lynn places this tooth colored coating on tooth surfaces that are especially susceptible to infection. This simple procedure seals out bacteria, acid, and other harmful substances, helping the patient avoid the need for more time consuming and costly dental treatment in the future.
Endodontics
Endodontic treatment, usually referred to as root canal therapy, is a dental procedure that is focused on the nerve of the tooth. If an infection spreads to the tooth’s root, Dr. Lynn will perform treatment to save the tooth and avoid extraction. This treatment will vary based on the severity of the infection and location of the tooth. Contrary to popular belief, root canal therapy causes minimal discomfort thanks to modern techniques and the use of anesthesia.
Periodontics
Healthy gums are essential for healthy teeth and overall health. However, many people neglect their gums and do not brush or floss regularly. Dr. Lynn is experienced in both diagnosing and treating periodontal diseases. He is one of only a few doctors in the Dallas area who is both board certified in periodontics and a general practitioner, making him uniquely equipped to treat all of your dental needs. Dr. Lynn was the first Board Certified Periodontist to offer Periolase treatments.
TMJ Treatment
TMJD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) is a complex condition affecting the jaw joints. It can lead to headaches, neck pain, difficulty or pain when chewing, and excess wear on the teeth resulting from grinding. After a comprehensive examination, Dr. Lynn will devise a customized treatment plan designed to alleviate discomfort, and help heal the joint.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Dr. Lynn understands that early detection is the key to successful treatment and speedy recovery from oral cancer. We incorporate oral cancer screening into every appointment. The Velscope is a handheld light that is shone around the mouth to pinpoint possible risk areas, which will appear darker than healthy tissue. This is one of the most advanced screening methods available today.
