What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Platelet Rich Plasma Dallas
PRP is blood plasma with a high concentrate of platelets. These platelets create a blood clot and release growth factors into the wound. While a normal concentration of platelets circulating in your blood is 200,000 per micro liter, the platelet count in PRP can exceed 2 million platelets per micro liter. This high concentrate of platelets can have a profound effect for accelerating healing time for several dental procedures that we perform.
How is PRP made?
PRP is collected by drawing a small amount of your blood while you are here for your procedure. It is then put into a special machine and spun down separating the red blood cells, plasma and concentrating the platelets. The result product is then applied to the surgery area to promote faster healing.
