At Lynn Dental Care, it is our goal to provide our patients with comprehensive treatments that can serve both their cosmetic and oral health needs. All-ceramic dental crowns, offered at our Dallas, Texas practice, can restore strength to damaged teeth while providing a seamless and natural-looking finish. What are Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are a restorative dentistry option for patients who have one or several damaged teeth. They can be thought of as caps that cover the entire structure of the natural tooth above the gum line. At Lynn Dental Care, we maintain our commitment to quality care by IPS e.max® dental crowns. These metal-free, all-ceramic dental crowns are proven to be stronger and more natural looking than other composite crowns. IPS e.max® dental crowns are translucent and durable, making them the perfect solution for a natural smile. In addition to protecting a weakened tooth from further decay, dental crowns can be used to:
- Restore the appearance of a broken or worn tooth
- Support a tooth that cannot sustain a filling
- Hold a dental bridge in place
- Cover a dental implant
The Placement of Dental Crowns
Dr. Lynn is able to place dental crowns in two simple appointments, at either of his Dallas offices. During the first appointment, Dr. Lynn will thoroughly examine the condition of the teeth and determine where crowns may be needed. After eliminating decayed material and reshaping the tooth to make room for a crown, he will then take an impression of the teeth using iTero digital technology. The use of this advanced technology increases patient comfort and eliminates the use of messy molds and putties. Dr. Lynn will send the results of these digital images to a lab which will then craft ceramic dental crowns that are custom-fit for your mouth. In the interim, you will wear temporary crowns as placeholders. Once the permanent crowns have been created, typically in two to three weeks, you can return to the office to receive the dental prosthetic. Dr. Lynn will ensure a proper fit and make any necessary modifications before permanently bonding the crown in place.
The Benefits of Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are a versatile treatment option, making them suitable for patients who suffer from decayed, weakened, or even missing teeth. By completely covering the entire natural tooth, dental crowns protect vulnerable teeth from decay, restore the structure of a tooth, and revive the appearance of a person’s smile. The health benefits of dental crowns are many; restoring the structure of the teeth can prevent further complications such as jaw disorders or bite problems. Dental crowns are also a viable restorative option for patients who have received dental implants to replace missing teeth. The crown can be affixed to the dental implant post to serve as an artificial tooth.
Dr. Lynn uses only 100 percent ceramic crowns to ensure quality, as they provide superb appearance, strength, and durability. These crowns create a more natural-looking appearance than metal crowns.
