Dallas Smile Makeovers: Perfect Imperfection

Dec 21, 2010 @ 10:36 PM – by SEO Admin

About a year ago, socialite-following journalists told us that the Madonna gap (that space between the two front teeth) is back in vogue. No pun intended. Most cosmetic dentists probably winced at the news that imperfection would become chic after years of marketing the importance of a gorgeous, perfect, smile. I, however, didnt blink an eye. Ive always believed that quality cosmetic dentistry must enhance a persons unique look. Cookie-cutter smiles have never been chic!

Have you heard the term chicklets used to describe porcelain veneers? It has negative connotations, insinuating that porcelain veneers are all the same just bits of porcelain pasted on teeth.

At Lynn Dental Care, nothing could be further from the truth. We dont do chicklets or cookies. We do sensational smiles.

Accelerated Healing with PRP in Implant Dentistry

Dec 14, 2010 @ 09:53 PM – by SEO Admin

To accelerate healing in surgical procedures, we use PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). This a technique involves using the patients own blood components. The risk of rejection is reduced, which improves the outcome potential of an oral surgery procedure.

At Lynn Dental Care, we can draw your blood prior to surgery, spin it in a centrifuge, and extract the platelets. The platelets are in gel form, and in the platelets granules, there is a growth factor. The platelet-derived growth factor is the part of your blood that improves your ability to heal. When PHP is used in surgery, blood clots form and promote regeneration of hard and soft tissue. Studies show that healing can occur two or three times faster when PRP is applied to the surgical site.

We can use PRP in soft tissue (gum surgery), bone grafting, and dental implant surgery. It is a natural and conservative technique that has been proven effective in the medicine and dentistry.

Dec 7, 2010 @ 03:00 PM – by drblynn

We hear about some of the more popular medical advancements on the news, or we read about them online or in the newspaper. What we don't often hear about are the absolutely amazing discoveries that are being made in dental science. Sound boring? Laser dentistry could end the need for wisdom tooth extraction. If you've had your third molars removed, you know that the procedure is fairly invasive and can have a few days' recovery time.

Scientists are learning that we may be able to zap wisdom teeth with a dental laser before they develop. Experiments on puppies and baby rats have been promising. Laser treatment actually prevented teeth from developing.
